hey did you know that there's a very simple type of prayer that is most pleasing to God this at least to two doctors of the church that we're going to cover today so in this video we're going to go over what that simple prayer is that is that's pleasing to God and why it's pleasing number two how one Saint responded to to this and number three a very practical tip to implement this in our life so number one what is that very simple type of prayer that's pleasing to God while St Augustine puts it this way there is nothing more pleasing we can offer God than to say to him possess thyself St Augustine is telling us that there's nothing more pleasing than giving ourselves over to God now I think what we have to remember is that the formula of the prayer is not the most important Point here it's the intention to give ourselves over to God that is what pleases him the most this is emphasized by St alonsus Lori he says we cannot offer God anything more pleasing than to say take us Lord we give thee our entire will only let us know thy will and we will carry it out so nothing more pleasing than to give ourselves over to Jesus simple just not easy kind of like golf get the ball in the hole simple just not easy so let's move on to why is this most pleasing to God and I first reason simple because he loves us when you love someone you want to unite yourself to them think about marriage when two people get married they want to spend time with each other they dream together they spend their money together they unite their bodies together they have children together you become one with the one you love particularly in marriage you unite yourself to them in this way well God loves us and he wants to unite himself to us that we would become one with him but with marriage we have to say yes right when I proposed to my wife Janelle I she had a choice in the matter I couldn't say Janelle you must marry me you have no choice in this no she had to say yes I was pretty sure she was going to see us when I held the ring out but she still had a choice in this now God comes to us on bended knee and proposes a beautiful Union how does he do this well first off he creates us out of nothing he didn't have to then he loses us because of abuse of Free Will and then he sends his son Jesus Christ to redeem us a search and rescue Miss Mission saving us from sin for sunship and St alonsus makes the point that God redeems us with an excessive love what he could have done with a drop of blood he does in a stream according to the doctor of the church what is that stream Jesus on the cross dying for our sin showing us an excess of love to win our hearts in one sense God proposing to us On Bended Knee will you accept me so why does this prayer please Jesus I give you myself because he wants to be with us he loves us the second reason why this prayer is pleasing to God is because it's good for us it leads to the Fulfillment of all desire see God loves us and he wants our good and our good is himself which leads to happiness there's a king his name is King Aragon he was asked the question what do you consider the most happy person and he said this he who abandons himself to the will of God and accepts all things prosperous and adverse as coming from his hands and when we can live this out what does that lead to well C alonsus says this indeed what can be more satisfactory to a person than to experience the Fulfillment of all his desires that's what this prayer leads to the Fulfillment of all our desires living for God in adversity and prosperity now how one Saint responded to this it was St trce of Avala 50 times a day it is said that she offered herself and her will over to Jesus isn't that a great habit perhaps you could consider it I mean if it worked for her perhaps it'll work for us how many times 50 I don't know how about start with one and then let that lead to two but throughout the day make multiple offers of yourself over to Jesus say possess thyself I offer you myself so practically now how can we do this well throughout the history of the church we have many beautiful devotions that emphasize this spirituality offering ourselves over to Jesus we have the Divine Mercy you know that little prayer Jesus I trust in you you could say that 50 times a day if you want or one again you you decide we have uh the Novena of surrender oh Jesus I Surrender myself to you take care of everything beautiful prayer but I like to go back at least recently to what St Augustine says possess thyself so in my th my prayer I go to Jesus and say oh Jesus POS thyself in fact what I've been doing is and here's the Practical tip I've been using the rosary and on the Our Father beads I say in our father and then I go to the hel Mary and and I say Jesus possess thyself I go to the next one Jesus possess thyself and then maybe I'll say Jesus possess thyself and take my children possess thyself I surrender to everything possess thyself I'll give you all my worries and anxieties Jesus possess thyself for your greater glory and honor Jesus possess thyself for your greater glory and honor so I I let that prayer possess thyself be the anchor of my prayer and I just walk through these Trails sometimes on our property and I pray this way and recently I found it a great consolation sometimes we don't know what to pray we make prayer very complicated and I think prayer is quite simple at least here's a simple example that the doctors of the church have encouraged us to just offer our will to God Jesus possess thyself so thanks for watching share with me below what's to2 and why and I'll see you soon
